US National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster has repeatedly mocked President Donald Trump’s intellect, according to a report.
McMaster allegedly called Trump as an “idiot” and a “dope” who has the intelligence of a “kindergartner”, according to a report published by BuzzFeed News on Tuesday.
The report indicated the comments were allegedly made during a dinner in July with Oracle CEO Safra Catz. The media outlet claimed five separate sources had knowledge of the conversation, four of whom said they heard of the exchange directly from Catz.
“[Catz] said the conversation was so inappropriate that it was jaw-dropping,” one source told BuzzFeed News.
McMaster also allegedly made comments about Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kusher. He reportedly said Kushner had no business being in the White House and failed to understand national security issues.
Another source told the news website that McMaster allegedly made similar comments about the president’s lack of intellect to him in private, saying the billionaire struggled to understand matters before the Security Council.
Both Oracle and the Trump administration have denied the comments were made.
“Actual participants in the dinner deny that General McMaster made any of the comments attributed to him by anonymous sources. Those false comments represent the diametric opposite of General McMaster’s actual views,” Michael Anton, a spokesman for the National Security Council, told BuzzFeed News.
The claims come as it was revealed, that Trump had upheld a ban on importing trophies of elephants hunted and killed in two African countries, reversing his own administration's decision from just a day earlier after a public outcry.
"Put big game trophy decision on hold until such time as I review all conservation facts. Under study for years. Will update soon with Secretary Zinke. Thank you!" Trump tweeted Saturday.
Trump has reversed his stance on an array of foreign and domestic issues that he adopted during last year’s presidential election campaign.
Since entering the White House 10 months ago, Trump has shifted policy on Russia, China, Syria and NATO, and has failed to keep many of his campaign pledges.
