Israeli forces have attacked a village in the West Bank and clashed with a group of Palestinian students who were trying to confront them.
On Thursday, the Israeli forces attacked the village of Bourin south of Nablus and engaged in clashes with a group of students and fired tear gas at them.
Elsewhere in Fawar refugee camp south of the West Bank city of al-Khalil, a number of Palestinians have developed respiratory problems after Israeli forces fired tear gas at their camp.
Israeli forces also arrested 14 Palestinians during home raids across the West Bank and detained two fishermen in Gaza Strip.
According to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society, 610 Palestinians, including 170 minors, 12 women and three injured people have been detained by the Tel Aviv regime forces since Washington's move to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as the Israeli capital.
Between December 5 and the 18, Israeli forces engaged in 162 search and arrest operations throughout the occupied Palestinian territories, UN official figures say.
On December 6, Trump announced his decision to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s capital and relocate the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to the holy city.
The dramatic shift in Washington’s Jerusalem al-Quds policy has drawn fierce criticism from the international community, including the United States’ Western allies, and triggered demonstrations against the US and Israel worldwide.
Over a dozen Palestinian protesters have been killed by Israeli forces and hundreds of others wounded during the ongoing rallies across the occupied Palestinian territories.
On Thursday, the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly voted in favor of a resolution that calls on the US to withdraw its controversial decision.
During the UN meeting, only eight countries sided with the US, including Guatemala, which announced on Sunday it would relocate its embassy to Jerusalem al-Quds.
In an attempt to avert the resolution, Trump had warned that “we’re watching,” threatening reprisals against countries that back the measure, which earlier faced a US veto at the UN Security Council.
Israel, however, rejected the world body’s resolution while thanking Trump for his decision to move US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem al-Quds.
Jerusalem al-Quds remains at the core of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with Palestinians hoping that the eastern part of the city would eventually serve as the capital of a future independent Palestinian state.
