Seeks Urgent Action for Justice
Residents and stakeholders in Ore, located in the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, have voiced serious concerns over the escalating crime rate, particularly armed robbery and kidnapping, which has led to the closure of several businesses in the town.
In an open letter addressed to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the State's Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Kayode Ajulo, SAN, the worried stakeholders highlighted the prolonged delay in a case involving kidnapping and robbery that has been pending in the Ore High Court for years.
The letter calls on the Attorney General to expedite the hearing of this and other related cases to ensure that justice is served promptly. The stakeholders revealed that some business owners, particularly filling station proprietors, have sold their properties and relocated out of fear of becoming victims of these crimes.
The letter stated: "As concerned stakeholders in Ore, the heart of Odigbo Local Government, we urgently seek justice for the repeated kidnappings of innocent residents, especially wealthy individuals in the community.
"Many filling station owners, such as K.K. Komos, Farbas, and Adebless, have been forced to sell their businesses and leave Ore to escape the growing threat of abductions and robberies.
"Victims of these heinous crimes are still grappling with emotional trauma caused by the kidnappers, robbers, and rapists, leaving them scarred to this day.
"We do not want to experience further calamity in our community.
"Despite the arrest and arraignment of a suspect in the Ore High Court, the case has been repeatedly adjourned without progress. We are frustrated with the lack of action and are urging the State Government, through the Attorney General, to intervene and ensure that justice prevails, as we can no longer feel safe in Ore."
