Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare, the NYSC Coordinator in Ondo State, has called on corps members to remain steadfast in their commitment to national development, emphasizing that they must not fail the country.
She gave the charge during her farewell address to members of the 2025 Batch 'A' Stream 1 corps, including those originally posted to Lagos but redeployed to Ondo, at the conclusion of their three-week orientation programme held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko.
Bakare urged the corps members to channel their energy into community development by initiating projects that address the pressing needs of rural areas.
“As you proceed to your places of primary assignment, I encourage you to embrace your postings and strive to leave lasting legacies by executing impactful projects,” she said.
She also reminded them to apply the values and lessons acquired during the orientation course as guiding principles throughout their service year and beyond.
Reassuring them of their safety, Bakare described Ondo and Lagos as peaceful states, with security of lives and property being a top priority of their respective governments.
However, she cautioned corps members to always wear their NYSC identity and stay away from individuals of questionable character.
Addressing the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) initiative, she urged the corps members to learn at least one vocational skill before the end of their service year, noting that doing so would contribute positively to the economic development of their host communities.
She further advised them to seek proper authorization before embarking on trips and to avoid traveling at night.
Out of the 1,373 corps members posted to Ondo State, 305 were granted relocation to other states. The number of those received from Lagos was yet to be confirmed at the time of reporting.
A key moment during the event was the presentation of Letters of Commendation to Captain E.O. Okakah as the Best Non-NYSC Camp Official and Comrade Charles Adanri as the Best NYSC Camp Official.
