In celebration of his 87th birthday, Chief Michael Ade. Ojo, OON, founder of Elizade University and distinguished industrialist, has reaffirmed his commitment to humanitarian service by organizing a free medical outreach for the people of Ilara-Mokin.
In a statement by Williams Olufunmi, Head, Public Relations, the outreach event, which took place at the Ilara-Mokin New Palace Hall, was a collaborative effort led by Elizade University’s Health Centre and the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences.
Hundreds of residents benefited from free health consultations, screenings, medications, and expert medical advice provided by a dedicated team of healthcare professionals.
Speaking at the event, Chief Ade. Ojo explained that his decision to mark his birthday with a humanitarian gesture stemmed from his belief that true fulfillment in life comes from serving others.
“Life should not be measured by wealth or possessions, but by how much we can give back,” he stated.
“I hope this simple act of kindness inspires future generations to embrace service to others.”
He emphasized that good health is critical to both personal and societal progress, describing the initiative as part of Elizade University’s broader mission to support and uplift its host community.
Chief Ade. Ojo also praised the University’s leadership for remaining attentive and responsive to local needs, and urged students to remain diligent in their academic journey.
Professor Sunday Babatunde Adeyemo, Acting Vice Chancellor of Elizade University, described the outreach as meaningful extension of the university’s mission to create societal impact beyond the classroom.
The Registrar, Mr. Omololu Adegbenro, also noted that the programme reflects Chief Ade. Ojo’s unwavering dedication to sustainable development and improving lives.
“This event is more than just a birthday celebration,” Adegbenro said.
“It is a living testament to the values of compassion, integrity, and service that define both our Founder and our institution.”
Community members, including elderly residents and young children, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the initiative, many calling it both timely and life-changing.
The Alara of Ilara-Mokin, Oba Abiodun Aderemi Adefehinti, described the gesture as invaluable, saying, “Even at 87, Baba still thinks of us and provides for us. We are truly grateful.”
The medical services provided included malaria testing, blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar checks, general consultations, and the distribution of essential medications — all at no cost to beneficiaries.
Dr. Lanre Olatunde, Chief Medical Director of the Elizade University Clinic and head of the outreach team, said the programme was inspired by Ade. Ojo’s lifelong example of service and compassion.
