Slain AAUA graduate buried as students restate call for justice

The remains of Joy Adeyemi, the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) graduate who was brutally murdered, have been laid to rest in her hometown, Arigidi-Akoko, in Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The development was confirmed in a statement signed by the President of the Students’ Union, Comr. Salami Akeem, General Secretary, Comr. Bakare Jamiu Abiodun, following the union leadership’s visit to Iwaro General Hospital to take possession of Joy’s remains.

The union leadership renewed its call for justice, urging security agencies “to be fast and vast for the transparency and accountability of their profession.”

The statement reads, “Amidst gripping fear and rigorous ongoing investigation credit to the earlier brutal murder of Joy, a fresh graduate from the Department of Human kinetics and Health Education, Faculty of Education.

“A POS attendant whom was reportedly murdered by her inhumane boyfriend, a lace serial killer who is still on the run.

“Today, the leadership of the Students’ Union visited Iwaro General Hospital for the possession of the remains of Joy, who had been buried in her home town at Arigidi Akoko.

“While the investigation is ongoing properly, the leadership of the Students’ Union has tasked the men of Nigerian Police to be fast and vast for the transparency and accountability of their profession.

“The Students’ Union whom has took it upon itself since the sad news of her passing and is thoroughly involved in following up the investigation in search of her killer, deeply understands the weight of the sorrow that has befallen our students community since the news of her passing was broken.

“We profoundly commiserate with the entirety of AAUA, both school management and our students and we pray may God grant her soul eternal rest and give us fortitude to bear the loss.”
