AAUA DVC, Daramola, to Present 30th Inaugural Lecture

The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin.) of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), and esteemed professor of Counselling Psychology, Adebisi Clement Daramola, is set to deliver the University’s 30th Inaugural Lecture on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

The lecture, titled “Crossing the Crossroads of Life: The Counselling Pathways,” is scheduled for 2:00 PM at the University Multipurpose Hall. Attendees are expected to be seated by 1:30 PM, and the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, will preside over the event.

Prof. Daramola’s distinguished academic career began at Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, where he earned a National Certificate in Education (NCE) in Physics and Chemistry in 1977. He further pursued a Bachelor’s (B.Ed.) and Master’s (M.Ed.) in Guidance and Counselling at the University of Ibadan in 1981 and 1984, respectively. He completed his Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology in 1993 from the then Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti.

His teaching career commenced in 1988 as a Lecturer II at Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti, before transitioning to AAUA in 1999. By 2004, he was elevated to the position of Professor of Counselling Psychology.

Prof. Daramola has held significant roles at AAUA, including Director of the Institute of Education, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Pioneer Dean of Student Affairs, and Pioneer Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). He also serves as Chairman of several University boards and committees, in addition to his current role as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin.) and Chairman of the University Ceremonies Committee.

A prolific scholar, Prof. Daramola has authored three books, contributed to three others, and published over 30 articles in reputable international journals. He has been a speaker at more than 25 conferences worldwide, including events in the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, and Israel.

His professional memberships include the Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON), the Nigerian Association of Educational Psychologists (NAEP), the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (WCGTC), USA, and the International Federation for Psychotherapy (IFP), Germany.

Prof. Daramola’s accolades span global recognition, with honors such as the American Medal of Honor, the International Peace Prize from the United Cultural Convention, USA, and the Outstanding African Achievers' Gold Award in Ghana.
